but social media is different because all social media companies are quasi-monopolists for their field of social media - facebook is the monopolist on classical social networks, twitter is the monopolist on short-message services, instagram is the monopolist on image-driven self-presentation, and so on.
if a restaurant kicks you out for whatever reason, there will be other restaurants as functionally equivalent and similarly "efficient" alternatives to fall back on.
by contrast, if you get banned by facebook, twitter, instagram, you are effectively cut out from one of the major modern ways of communication, with no alternatives which are anywhere near as efficient.
