This one blows my mind. She had consensual sex with a 17 year old dude... and then he pretended to be traumatized about it and got some cash from her. Who the hell cares?

well it showed off the weakness of the "if you dont instantly take victims seriously, you're a part of the problem" narrative that was far too prevalent in #metoo. 1 of the people pushing it, asia, hushed a victim with cash. the other, rose, tweeted a "wait for the facts" statement, then backed the fuck off, and is now ruining her "friend" to try and regain credibility. Now it is coming out the Asia silently received nude pics of the kid all the way back to when he was around 12 or so.

the story itself, the kid she banged, the cash she offered, hell even bourdain in the mix, aren't enough for me to care. but the nuance it provides the #metoo movement overall is interesting to me.

what seems confirmed:

-Asia claims she was "sexually attacked", and therefore her relationship with the boy wasn't strictly consentual and he's not a pure victim due to his age. in fact she claims she was the victim (who then paid off her "attacker)
-Confirmed Asia recieved photos of the boy naked previous to her sexual contact with the boy

what's still up in the air:

-whether or not asia tried to dissuade the boy from sending her nudes, seems unlikely given the claims that are floating around
-whether she sent him back any
-what age he was during this time and how long it lasted.


at the very least, if i was betting in a perverse real life situation version of roulette, i'd bet on him sending her pics in his teens, her not telling him to stop, him not being guilty of sexual assault, her not audibly protesting to their sex, and no one getting charged with any crimes as a result (even though she may have child porn in her computer).
