Police already have his info, report has been made. Not sure if he will be charged as there is no hard evidence of speeding afaik. At least the guys insurance premiums are gonna skyrocket, the van was a 1yo Merc Vito, and def total loss after the crash.

Cost of proving excessive speeding might be more than what can be claimed from the youngster. I'm not 100% sure here, but I guess its up to the insurance company to prove the guy was at fault. That would have been different if someone would have died, leading towards a possible accusation of man slaughter.



Would have been the case if he was proven to be the cause of the accident.

Yes, the one victimized is always covered. There are situations where insurance companies can try to claim money from the causer of the accident afterwards. And If I'm not mistaken the German Autobahn is a bit different, where you'll have to proof you were in total control of your vehicle at 200 km/h to not partially pay for any accident at high speed.

on the German Autobahn, there is an "advisory speed limit" of 130 km/h. it's no speeding to drive faster than that, but if you're invovled in an accident at a higher speed, you can be declared to be partially guilty, even if it's the other vehicle which caused the accident.
