bad timing to hurry the post and not double check it before posting. XD

yes, I did grow up in a rather smallish town. admittedly, rural parts of europe might not be as backwards, anti-science and all around ignorant as some rural american towns (due to population density; almost no one in western europe lives more than 100km away from a larger city.)

but if you focus on the more bearable ones instead of the extra ignorant specimen, you'd realize that not every small-town inhabitant is an ignorant imbecile with a sub-95 IQ.
and by contrast, it's actually pretty easy to find tons of really dumb and delusional folks on college campuses and larger cities as well. the "IQ-sorting" isnt as extreme as it sounded in your original post, and as many people (mostly from the more liberal side of things) seem to think. the rural regions of a country dont consist of nothing but idiots, and the cities dont consist of nothing but outstanding minds.

As of last census it was about 300 people, so no, it wasn't smallish, it was close to as small as it can possibly get.

Also never said either was only dumb or smart. But a lot of them were really dumb.

The worst part is it manifests as poor conflict resolution skills.

Saying it's not as extreme as it sounds is essentially acknowledging that it is pretty bad, this just reads as a really weak defense of rural areas

There's nothing inherently wrong with the lack of sophistication in rural areas

i agree. but "conflict resolution skills" arent actually any better in the less affluent quarters of big cities...

I probably wasnt clear enough: my point is that it's far less extreme than it sounded in Thor's first post.

... yet it's constantly a reason for urbanites to mock and look down on them.

That's just people being dicks
As an engineer I can relate since we mock people in other disciplines (for fun)
Academia is plagued by sjw cancer these days so there's plenty to mock on both sides

indeed. even in my field, which belongs to the broader STEM category, there are surprisingly many sjws. the cancer's spreading from the humanities to other fields.

Cool story bro.

Has nothing to do with my original post. Most people where I grew up were dumbfucks. The fact that dumbfucks exist elsewhere doesn't negate that.

Feinstein needs to retire. I have no idea why she is insisting on another 6 year term. She hasn't even accomplished much given she's been in the Senate for 26 years now.

She should give Kevin de León a shot, his life story is way more inspiring the Democrats need some new blood.

All the Old Guard needs to go. New blood and new ideas.

The Baby Boomers finally dying off will be the best thing to happen to the United States. It is no surprise that the most toxic generation has elected the most toxic president as it's last gasp. Clinton was toxic too, even though I voted for her. Thought about voting for Gary Johnson but he was gonna get 2% tops and I couldn't let the Aleppo thing go...it was the most important thing going on in the world at the time and he had an interview...so I concluded that he was a fucking idiot afterall. Clinton was an evil, corrupt, world-class Arch-Sith Lord, but at least continuing the Democratic platform was in her own best interest, and I can trust Darth Clinton to act in her own best interest 100% of the time. Democrats are objectively better at managing the economy and that's my prime concern because that is the pie we all have to cut up and live off of. They are also much better at cutting up the pie.

Here is a book about it: https://www.amazon.com/Theyre-Not-Even-Close-Democratic/dp/1880026090/ref=pd_cp_14_1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=5682957075090298297&pf_rd_r=TZS9W635XQV3XG1CR30C&pd_rd_wg=VysHp&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&pd_rd_w=SxAK6&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pd_rd_r=9ad822e4-987d-11e8-be27-2b35d37a0230&pd_rd_i=1880026090&psc=1&refRID=TZS9W635XQV3XG1CR30C

The Democratic and Republican Parties are virtual opposites of each other in their economic records, going back to the earliest period for which economic data were available, around 1910. More than a dozen studies have been done comparing economic growth, unemployment, average length of unemployment, stock market performance, inflation, federal debt, and other economic indicators, during Democratic and Republican presidencies and congresses, and they all show stunningly better performance when Democrats are in power, than when Republicans are. These studies are all available online, and they are all summarized and discussed in this path-breaking book, which settles, once and for all, the question of whether there’s any significant economic difference between the two Parties. Not only is there a difference, but – shockingly – it always runs in favor of Democrats in power. There might be other types of reasons for voting Republican, but all of the economic reasons favor voting for Democrats. Regarding economic performance, the two Parties aren’t even close.

CONTENTS

4: Democrats Are Better for the Stock Markets
10: Democrats Are Plain Better for the Economy
19: The Grand Old Prejudice Causes Economic Stagnation
40: Democrats Reduce, Republicans Increase, Government Deficits
46: Republicans Actually Win by Punishing the Nation
105: Conservatism Is Based Only on Faith
114: Trickle-Down vs. Percolate-Up Economics
122: Republicans Harm More than Just the Economy
123: Would Romney Be Better than Obama?
125: References/Sources

This book just kind of aggregates other sources to show as fact that Democrats are objectively better at Republicans at growing the economy we all live off of.

At this point voting Republican is an act of self-harm.
