tbh i'm waiting for the next news cycle for r/politics and leftypol to be excited about, every week there's a new reason Trump should be impeached since he got elected and it's dumped and forgotten soon after. I don't know how anyone can get worked up this much anymore.

Ive said it a couple of pages ago: this incident is different because here, for the first time ever, Trump looked weak and/or disloyal to America.

The appearance of weakness and/or of not being on the side of the american people is the one thing Trump cannot afford.

I'm not quite sure how people are getting that Trump committed treason with his statements. I think the media and Left are overplaying their hand once again with this one.

A bad political move? Certainly. Disgraceful? I think so. Treasonous? No.

well drumpf already committed ‘treason’ at the border three weeks ago

I'm not discounting your points. But maybe we should wait a bit...

Trump to meet with members of Congress after summit criticism

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump will meet with members of Congress on Tuesday, the White House said, after many lawmakers criticized his performance at a summit on Monday with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The White House did not say who would attend the meeting or its subject. It is the only event on Trump’s schedule for Tuesday.

Just sayin... Maybe he HAD a reason. The art of the deal and all that?

/e Maybe there are things that happened in the private part of the summit, that we don't know about yet.

I had already thought of the same tbh. Well... no. I think it's no coincidence that team Mueller issued the indictments at this specific date, but imho the intention of him or his deep state instigators was to tie Trump's hands and force him to abandon his course of playing it soft with Putin/Russia and go for a confrontational approach instead. I dont think Mueller expected Trump to be stupid enough to just run into the trap and completely fuck himself up.

I will say this much: The US intelligence community is way too powerful. It's essentially become an unchecked 4th branch of government.

I believe our intelligence community misled the American people in the aftermath of 9/11 as it pertains to weapons of mass destruction. Their efforts, unverified by the UN, helped lead to overwhelming public support for one of the worst foreign policy decisions our country has ever made..

I rewatched some of the Congressional hearings from this week. Peter Strzok refusing to answer Congressional questions after being subpoeaned on the basis of FBI secrecy was gross to me. I understand there is FBI policy regarding ongoing investigations, but of course the FBI doesn't want this dude to answer Congress' answers in good faith - it would make them look awful. Strzok was an embarrassment.

Throw that in with how Comey clearly botched the entire 2016 election - from the non-indictment to the letter, and the FBI looks very much like an incompetent and politicized organization right now.

I'm gravely concerned for our country. We've got an intelligence community that's way too powerful and out of control, a media that cannot reliably cover any political topic, and a demagogic President who knows exactly the right buttons to push to manipulate all of this chaos to his advantage. Our institutions are failing us, our checks and balances are failing, and most of all, our people are failing us.

It all started with Treadstone. Jason Bourne was the first. :D

bullshit, he publicly sided with putin over the intelligence community before - just because you cultists tend to 'forget' that, doesn't mean it didn't happen:

"putin told me he didn't do it, and you can only ask so many times. i really believe him."
that was last november after they met at the apec summit.

He cant be imepeached until his job is finished: Making it obvious to the whole world, that the us constitution is flawed. It took Hitler 12 years to do this job in Germany, i hope that Trump is quicker....

The top comments on the summit thread on r/conservative are calling trump dumb and disgraceful. Only the trump cult can’t see him for what he is.

reddit isn't the best source for right wing commentary

I don't consider reddit the best source for any commentary, really.

/e This is interesting though...

Russian establishment chalks up Trump summit as a win for Putin

In a new departure, Putin waded directly into that U.S. domestic debate. Standing alongside Trump in Helsinki, Putin said he had evidence that $400 million dollars in unlawfully acquired cash may have been funneled to the election campaign of Trump’s defeated opponent Hillary Clinton.

No way to know yet, if there is any truth to this. Maybe Putin is trying to "buy" Trump's support.
I think Trump's sit down with Congress today should be very interesting. If Putin actually does have evidence that $400 million in unlawfully acquired cash, went to Hillary's election campaign... it might open up a whole can of worms.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall of today's meeting with Congress, that's for sure.

/ee I'd also like to have been present for the "private" meeting between Trump and Putin in Helsinki, before the public one.
