I don't think he cares about himself. All along he hasn't shown any indication that he DOES care about himself.
He's thinks he has a way to MAGA, and he's gonna do what he thinks is the way... no matter what anyone else thinks.

/ee Look at Q. Elizabeth. She made a big stink about NOT meeting with Trump right after he won. But then she did anyhow. Trump didn't seem to be bothered by that slight either, even tough it "made him look bad on the world stage".
