This is perhaps a microcosm of Trump behavior. The classic question: Is there a method to the madness or is it plain stupidity and/or recklessness?

I think the simpler answer is probably the right one. You're reading too much into his behavior - he probably just made a typo.

Examples: Discgrace vs disgrace. Pore vs pour. Melanie (Melania). Marine core vs Marine Corp. tarrifs vs tarriffs. Seperation vs separation. Covfefe. All typos.

I'm referring to Trump's political behavior as a whole. His supporters often read too much into what he does, giving him credit or attributing behavior to political genius where there is none.

Example: Trump commits a self-inflicted controversy. Trump supporters: He's actually playing 23D chess and trying to distract the national media from some other topic.

Reality: He probably just committed an unforced error with no grand scheme or sophisticated thought behind it.

while I generally agree that Trump isnt playing 10d chess, I, at the same time, think that his haters among democrats and media folks dont give him enough credit. someone who is just stupid and committing blunder after blunder all the time just cannot possibly be as successful as he has been.

for example, I am convinced that Trump is often deliberately using one of his "outrageous" monday morning tweets to set the tone/agenda for the week, and every single time the media is taking the bait. other stuff like covfefe were pretty clearly just fuckups with no deeper meaning.
