That's at least partially true: a president Clinton would have replaced Scalia with a liberal, and chosen RBG's successor. (In this scenario, RBG would have happily retired earlier this year when they found the lesions in her lung and it became clear she didnt have much time left.)

Hence, had evangelicals and all other sorts of people of faith not held their nose in 2016 and voted for the sinner-incarnate Trump, then a liberal majority (of at least 5-4) on the SCOTUS would have been enshrined, and any push to overturn Roe v. Wade or otherwise limit the status quo on abortions would have been in vain for decades.

So while voting for Trump has not stopped abortions outright, it has kept the chance to do so alive and actually gotten movement conservatives faaar closer to their goal of overturning Roe.

Men like Trump can and will always be able to pay for abortions. Any ban will only affect the lower classes. I guess Republicans want lots of black thugs being born to overrun their neighborhoods. Who knew?

Fun fact: in the 60s, there was a brief moment in time when conservative whites were pro-abortion for this exact reason before they did a 180° on religious grounds.

The founder of planned parenthood Margaret Sanger was actually a huge racist and advocated for eugenics. She literally argued for abortions to thin out blacks.

she advanced a controversial "Negro Project," wrote in her autobiography about speaking to a Ku Klux Klan group and advocated for a eugenics approach to breeding for “the gradual suppression, elimination and eventual extinction, of defective stocks — those human weeds which threaten the blooming of the finest flowers of American civilization.”

Yep, a lot of people around that time were. We like to pretend we were better, but America was hugely into Eugenics before WW2. Several states, including I think Georgia, had mandatory sterilization programs.

Yeah, the right gets all up in arms about "historical revisionism" without realizing the only reason think they it's historical revisionism is because that exact thing happened and they bought into it.

Turns out... and I acknowledge this is a pretty radical idea... the people who study this thing for a living in colleges are the most knowledgeable about the subject.

We should teach college students that the biggest abortion organization in the US was founded by a racist who basically pushed to have these clinics in places where they can be most effective aka where blacks live for most impact. That legacy is still alive today with black babies being aborted at higher rates and most pp being around black communities. 79% of pp are located within walking distance of minority communities and black women are 5 times more likely to go for an abortion compared to white ones.

So Sanger got her wish with over 19 million black babies killed since 1973.
