the NFL's uniform alteration policy is an attempt to keep politics from being forced on their fans. because, unlike the Anthem (which some networks are choosing not to air in an attempt to combat the kneeling issue) you can't avoid seeing uniforms of players.
you stand up for uniform alteration, and not for kneeling. even though players are contractually obligated to follow uniform rules, explicitly spelled out on their contracts they sign to play, and there are no specific provisions for political kneeling during the anthem.
