increased compatibility, faster co-operation/reaction time, centralized command and strategy.. I only see benefits.. What's the problem ?
they are already discussing that with a european army, we should weaken the requirement of the national parliaments having to approve military missions abroad. and they are already discussing lifting the requirement of unanimosity among the european countries when it comes to going to war with the new, european army. that's a very slippery slope. and it would further increase the EU's tendency to absorb and usurp national sovereignty from the european national states.
I agree with the idea of building a european army, but for the reasons above, i would prefer it to be an addition for the national militaries, not a replacement.
And when I hear stuff like this:
Quote
French President Macron: "I always prefer having direct discussion" ; “For better burden sharing we need more Europe. The big mistake would be for Europeans to increase budgets to buy American or other arms. If we increase our budget it’s to build our autonomy.”
from a French president, it should be crystal clear what he actually means: "the others, and Germany in particular, shall pay more to finance our french interests".
