If the amendment was intended to give birthright citizenship, there is zero reason for the additional condition.
My position requires no insertions to be sensible. Yours does to even pass a basic grammatical test, then needs backflips to avoid saying "if youre a citizen youre a citizen".
Theres better arguments to be made against birthright citizenship than trying to fit an incorrect-on-its-face definition of subject.
I really dont like the idea of birthright citizenship btw, I agree it's ripe for abuse in the modern world and probably shouldnt be a thing.
