How does one steal something that doesn't belong to anyone?

Feel free to elaborate and enlighten.

Plenty of people do all those things and don't pay taxes.  The margins of society is full of them.

You should get into the social sciences.

While remaining in sync with law?

Never denied that it happens and that many do these things, but have never been exposed to any tale of such things being legal. Our view on land/property doesn't permit it.
Of course we can do it, as we please, with no concern for law, but if that is what you are getting at, it's not really my point.

No, no... I mean how can taking something that isn't anyone's property be considered theft, which is the taking of someone else's property?

how do you expect to have a functioning productive society without accepting the concept of ownership/possessions?

By altering perspectives and bending definitions

By viewing land as something to be shared by all life with no respect to claims of ownership on that which one has not intensively labored.
The same that many Native American's would probably view ownership before colonization.

Don't know if this is really working out well here

That statement isn't directed towards possessions.
just a lack of respect for one to stake claim to lands in which he cannot develop, or give any purpose other than selfish desire/to control others who inhabit.

And you should probably understand that I don't want what you see to be a 'functioning productive society'
You want a well oiled machine
I want it to fall apart, with purpose and method.

--Also important to realize I don't just want things to happen at any given time..Lots of changes need to happen before many ideas or outlooks can be employed. Current population is an issue for lots of things I wish for.

I have two engineering degrees
My girlfriend has an engineering degree
My sister is a semester away from her forensic science degree
Two of my cousins are pharmacists.
One of my cousins is a school teacher
Another cousin is soon to finish his radiology degree
One of my friends is finishing his PhD in chemistry
Another is finishing his Masters in English

All of us are hard working, responsible, respectful, and loving people.

The common denominator?
We were all swatted on the ass when we acted up and were lucky enough to have responsible and loving parents to explain to us what we did wrong.
We all followed a path that lead us to what we wanted, because we were taught to work for what we have and not scream and complain when we didnt get our way.

Beating a child is never right, all it takes is a light smack. If you are a good enough parent, you only need to swat them a few times in their lives, and they learn.
