bottom line: NONE

and you claim to try to leave your presumptions behind? stop fooling yourself

Huh I don't understand.

I specialize in the study of Christianity and 1st century related text. When reading them, I should leave any presumptions and worldviews of modernism, post modernism, liberal, conservative, American, Canadian, Indian, Chinese, etc at the door.

Are you saying that unless I read absolutely every piece of history, every piece of literature, every piece of doctrine from every religion, I am therefore not being "unbaised" enough? rofl.

as usual you jump to ridiculous conclusions
how about 'a few'? that will give you a different angle
but you clearly have only dabbled in christianity related texts
so you are not able to even faintly recognise your bias

It is a life long endeavour. But not entirely sure what you're point is. We were discussing about sound hermeneutics. You make it sound as if scientists who only dabble in scientific research and not in anything else is apparently biased towards science and therefore all their work is foundationally dismissed. See where you're going? Genetic fallacy.

Seems like you don't even know what your trying to get people to grasp. I have never once heard your point in all this.

If anyone could read the last few posts brmv made here in this thread, please help me summarize what he means.

But I won't be surprised if you don't care - seems like he doesn't either.

His point is if you have not read any non bible related scriptures of that era, and you have not studied non bible related history of that era you are unable to gauge the social values and system that the bible stemmed from, thus any interpretation you may want to give is inherently biased.

non bible related scriptures is apocrypha, pseudipigrapha, and antiquities of the jews.. i am pretty sure he is referencing to non-christian related material isn't he? so, i need to read the quran in order to "balance" my bias?

no-one asks you to balance your bias
but do not make the false claim that you are unbiased

and to lessen (not eliminate) your bias it would be good if you go outside the reach of abrahamic religions
eg hinduism, buddhism, taoism, aboriginal belief systems, greek/roman/celtic/germanic mythology etc etc - pick one or more
