The republicans offered clean funding bills with no riders, a flat extension of existing Biden era funding. The democrats refused to vote for any budget that didn't include ACA subsidies which had expired and were never voted into law. They were directly holding the budget hostage to demand a program that they did not have the votes to pass. Every republican was willing to vote to reopen the government, every democrat voted against it
What part of this don't you understand?
At some point, political discourse becomes impossible when you don't recognize basic facts and logic anymore. It doesn't matter what happens in the world or what anyone says, if you can simply deny reality.
The democrats closed down the government and held the budget hostage, the democrats caved and reopened the government and released their hostage without getting their demands.
Its entirely upon the democrats at each step of the story, they are the aggressors and the losers in the contest.
the most pathetic part is the democrats simultaneously acknowledge that the ACA is a bad system, that even with subsidies it provides bad or no coverage, it's way too expensive, AND that we must save it. under biden no clear steps were take to improve or replace it, just give it spindly crutches. they screech about socialized healthcare but there's no serious framework. if they did the math, and im sure they have, they realize that its insolvent to even try and socialize healthcare because of the deeply unhealthy population. but RFK comes along and says it out loud and he's called fatphobic and ostracized for his views on vaccines. the golden calf of the democrat party is pharmaceutical money and privatized insurance, while they pretend to be anti corporation and hate the healthcare system. if they replaced the system with a working one they'd lose half their funding.
