All big cities are more expensive here and all of them are mostly blue voters. However Texas has a lot more rural area than cities overall.

They need to raise the minimum wage here but honestly it would just raise costs almost better to keep it since 90% of jobs here allow you to get overtime when you want it.

Very few jobs still pay minimum wage in Texas luckily. Businesses are always in bidding wars here for who starts their new employees at higher rates.

You don't understand. The minimum wage is a price floor, and its impact is relative to whatever's the lowest wage offered in that region.

As for Texas, the average person in Texas is going to be wealthier than your average Californian in a few years time.

I absolutely agree, it should be increased annually for inflation. We do that in Canada and I think the system works very well

Now in Canada one of my criticisms is that the minimum wage can be so high that it is already competing with higher skill jobs (alot of work here you will only get 2 dollars or so over minimum wage for a semi skilled position) such that the incentive to invest in education and self improvement is diminished

whats the argument for keeping the floor at the same level for 9 years in a row? how often does Congress get a raise? federal employees get raises every year to adjust for cost of living increases, why shouldnt the federal minimum wage be treated the same?
