When you leave it up to states to give arbitrary redefinitions of federal constitutional law that's clearly outside their jurisdiction, you open the floodgates. Republicans in Texas and Florida are already toying around with it. Trump wasn't afforded due process, and the Colorado interpretation of 'insurrection' is completely arbitrary, and every bit as much infringing on the feds. No less valid than Texas declaring that Biden's tolerance of an 'army' of 'invaders' at the southern border is giving aid and comfort to insurrectionist enemies.
Oh and here's the juicy legal argument. Colorado ruled that Trump would not be a valid president, for his actions taken as sitting president. Therefore, by that same logic, Biden cannot be shielded by his current executive privilege. It doesn't matter if Biden claims that his policies on the border are lawful executive actions and faithful execution of the law. Trump can say the same thing about his scrutiny of the 2020 election. Neither have been afforded due process and there's no checks or balances because we're making shit up as we go along and constitutional law precedent has been choke slammed off a steel cage by mick foley.

So because my family has money and built independent businesses we should just get fucked when it comes to college?

In 2007-2008 my parents combined income was less then 100k and yet they made just "too much" to basically get ZERO help from the government while putting 3 kids through college(me and my sisters). Yet any of their "black" coworkers kids got to go to school for free? They worked the SAME job? Tell me how that makes sense?

Now let's take my uncle's example he's in the top income tax bracket and has 4 kids going through college(3 right now) they get NOTHING because he's a millionaire. So even though they all did great in school they don't get any scholarships/etc. no tuition reimbursement. No college tax credits. All because my UNCLE is independently wealthy. They get fucked.

So every white person I know has basically had to pay off loans the last 10 years working 2 jobs but if we were "black" or "latino" or "native american" we'd have avoided 100k in debt?

Let's keep this conversation going. How is it fair that my whole family(17 cousins)(all white) have had to pay every cent for the degree they earned but others got all if not most of that for FREE.

So 17 black students can go to college for free but my family will pay MILLIONS of dollars to pay off those loans. You don't see the hypocrisy?

So yes us conservatives are "like that" for that exact reason. It's not about the "money". It's about the principle. Why should I or any "Caucasian" person be punished financially and another racial group get a "free pass" just because of the "color" of their skin?

my dad ran his own business and didnt give me any help for college, i obviously didnt qualify because he was making 300k+ a year.
i worked a full time job and saved up enough to put myself through college. do you see me bitching about other people getting free college? no, its wonderful. more people should get free college ! instead of joining the political party that wants to make it easier for people to get help - you are a member of the political party that is actively cutting college funding and doing nothing to address the costs and bloat in the college system. why is that? why is it that every conservative that feels slighted, wants to make life harder for everyone else so they can get theirs? its baffling to me. let me give you a reality check, life is fucking hard for everyone. no one gets a free pass, everyone suffers. i have absolutely no problem with minorities getting help as statistically the odds are not in their favor. you are LUCKY that you have family that was able to pay your way through college yet here you are thinking you are entitled to free college because brown or black kids got it?? are you seriously that selfish???? if so, you are whats wrong with this country buddy. you are the one that has a good life but wants more because you see other people in need of help getting helped. you want more more more. conservatives LOVE to leech and take advantage of social programs only to pull the ladder up behind them because they already got theirs. its fucking disgusting and part of the bigger problem in this country which is greed. grow the fuck up

edit: if your family took out millions in loans for college, the problem is your family and not kids getting free college

You really missed my point didn't you.

Quote me where I said "I want free college". I said that with my test score(31) I should've easily gotten into the University of Illinois but I didn't. I found it odd that my moms co-workers son whose black got an 18 and got in and tuition covered? Was my 17 year old self wrong to think that way? gtfo

&&& here's where your really wrong. I started working caddying at a golf course when I was 12 and by the time I was 15 me and a friend had a lawn maintenance business. So when I didn't get into that university I went to a community college and earned my associates degree and paid for it myself while realizing that hard work pays off I dropped out of college and never got my bachelors degree. What I did do was build and sell a lawn maintenance business before I was 25. While all my friends were swimming in debt and working 3 jobs I had just sold my first company for a handsome profit. I purchased a fixer-upper home and some of my friends moved in and within 2 years the house was paid off. I invested a large sum of money in the stock market in semiconductor companies AMD, NVIDIA, TSM and haven't "actually worked" in 5 years. I got good at trading and investing and making my money work for me. My mom, dad, family didn't say, "Hey you should put 30 thousand dollars into AMD" but guess what? I did. And when the company started to bottom out everyone around me said, "Take your money out before you lose it all". Did I listen? No. That 30k investment in AMD is now worth $600k. I never need to work again and you want to know why? Because for 10 years me and a friend cut lawns 9 months out of the year 80hrs a week and I used that pile of cash to my advantage. Then I have someone like you whose "Dad makes 300k a year" trying to tell me about how I'm so privileged? Give me a break dude.

edit: I'm simply pointing out that these "policies" you vehemently support are DIVISIVE in nature. Your coming at my throat for the wrong reason. Nothing is FREE so why are you saying, "Some people should get college for free". Taxpayers pay for that not liberal wokeism.

The typical expense for attending prestigious institutions such as MIT is approximately $80,000 USD annually. If they are ineligible for need-based financial assistance, reducing the cost to around $30,000, a graduate from MIT will be coming out with 320-350k of debt if not more.

Yup I have a friend whose a Physical Therapist and he's got 400k debt (50k/year undergrad)(200k med school).

He told me he'll be paying his loans off until he's 40 if his parents don't give him a huge sum of money to reduce it.

"He's white" from a middle class family but according to he should pay every dime but that black guy who was in med school with em' "he should get it for free"

community college is a few grand a semester, less than half of that if youre poor and qualify for federal aid. not everyone gets to go to MIT and if you do, you shouldnt bitch about the price. its the best college in the USA - or at least one of them

Because like I said I have cousins going to college who are wondering the same thing I did when I was their age.

I have two sisters who are about to start "locking in tuition" for my nieces and nephew because in 10 years college might be unaffordable for them.

Imagine that.

But free college woooohoooo! No.
