my wife and i have gotten into some petty arguments, but i dont love you is off the table, and health doesnt get negated due to tension.

No but i've done plenty of other toxic shit. If there was a hidden camera of all our family interactions and someone was tasked with presenting me in the worst light ever, it would be extremely easy to paint me in a really negative light. This is true even of healthy relationships. I don't really know why that interaction is so shocking to you. Yes he's being petty af, controlling, w.e. but with 50%+ marriages ending up in divorce, don't really think what he did is unique in any way.

Also I don't really understand why people are framing Crowder as some moralist. I don't follow these personalities too close, most of my exposure to them is from here or some snippets on twitter, but he never struck me as a moralist. He's the typical culture war public internet personality, you have these both on the right and left and they excel and ultimately make money by clout chasing. I think if someone like Shapiro was caught doing something like this it would be more impactful because he's the one camping on the hill of family values more than any other one of these personalities.

This whole ordeal is the equivalent of a rabid anti-abortionist being caught receiving/paying for an abortion. Or a homophobic pastor being caught having relations with other men. The reason people frame Crowder as a moralist is because that's how he's presented himself from jump street. That's also why this whole thing is less than shocking.

Except it's not lol. It's a petty and toxic interaction between a husband and wife with a failing relationship which eventually ended in divorce. Hypocrisy like all things really has levels to it.

i'm not going to write up a list of unwritten rules for lines you can't cross. but this doesn't pass the smell test, even in the "this is the worst moment and it just happened to be caught on camera".

as to why people view crowder as a moralist, it's because crowder told everyone he's a moralist. he enters comedy into his shows, parody even, but he's the one who put himself on a moral highground.
