while funny and telling about how fucked up the dump called "LA" is, it doesnt actually make sense.

I highly doubt that criminal law has been or would be the thing holding back HIV-positive persons who'd otherwise knowingly expose others to their disease.
I mean... who the fuck would think "oh cool, now that it's no longer a felony, I can finally spread my aids around; lets go!"

Oh I dunno someone with aids who was fucking horny.

Whereas passing that law in California has the very real possibility of telling folks with aids that they can now use that disease to say... get back at someone, for any real or imagined slight.

It's a stupid law. There is NO justification for passing it. None.

I hope you do know that the odds of contracting HIV on unprotected vaginal intercourse is only around 1:50. It's not like you stick your aids-cock into someone you hold a grudge against just once and they are already guaranteed to be infected...

I didnt say that it should be made legal. All I'm saying is that basic human decency and not its criminalization should be the thing that makes HIV-positive persons refrain from knowingly exposing others to their disease...

I don't care what the odds are.
I mean the govt. thinks it's illegal to falsely advertise for an inanimate product, yet you want to convince me that we should allow it when even the slightest chance of spreading the disease is possible.

I'm assuming you are mad at me for some other post you disagree with and don't really think this way.

I even see way lower numbers: 0.08 percent for women and 0.04 percent for men

We aren';t talking about locking people up for having aids. We are talking about keeping it illegal NOT to tell your partner.

Ya know like the FDA makes it illegal not to tell people that MSG or some shyt is in their food. Food they might only eat once.

the picture you posted indirectly asserted that the skyrocketing STD numbers in LA were a direct result of decriminalizing the negligent spreading of HIV. thats the starting point of this discussion. I said that this doesnt actually make sense, for the reasons I laid out above.

With HIV not being a death sentence anymore, ppl feel a lower need to protect themselves from it. We're not being made aware of the risks like we were 10 years ago...

Apart from that.. ppl surviving HIV will probably have an impact as well, as for now, it isn't cured but ppl do stay alive. (/e: meaning more living ppl with STD's).

/e an additional note to be made is that ppl with HIV taking the medication reduces chances of spreading it to 0%.
/e2: Imo that makes the law more useless than it already was. Or at least: outlived its function.
