bold is the only part the voters that decide elections really care about.
or did all those voters in 5 states, that flipped to Trump in 2016, change from enlightened benevolent opened-minded citizens when they voted for Obama twice (2008, 2012) to all of a sudden reich-wing white nationalists when they voted for the orange person over the white person in 2016
Trump got the racists to show up that never cared about voting before

wtf dude, are you serious? senators susan collins and lisa murkowski (and, to a slightly lesser degree, joe manchin) are textbook moderates and currently hold tremendous power in a tightly balanced senate where those three tend to be the median senators. these moderate senators doomed the GOP's efforts at repealing or replacing obamacare. (McCain stole the spotlight, but his contribution to sinking the replacing efforts is no greater than that of collins and murkowski!)
They are the senators who determine how far to the right Trump can go with his new SCOTUS pick that replaces justice kennedy. they were the pivotal votes in the successful passage of the tax overhaul. they are the ones that can reject or confirm Trump's cabinet nominees and his appointments for federal courts.
and if moderate house republicans organized and fought for their ideas as effectively as the freedom caucus does, they could be a lot more influential. the moderates in the house dont lack power, they lack the balls to use their power by bucking the party leadership, and perhaps even the president. it is their lack of courage, their opportunistic risk-averseness, that makes them irrelevant.
I should've elaborated better; they're powerless in helping stop Trumps takeover of the G.O.P./supreme court. they voted
for the tax scam, and McCain should get way more credit for saving Obamacare as he isn't a Moderate IMO, yet did the right thing (trump is still actively trying to sabotage it though), not Collins or Murkowski, who were pretty much expected to vote for it (especially Murkowski, who's state is isolated and really needed O-care).
Here's my issue with Collins, she does good things and then does terrible things that cancel out the good she does. Like now, shes saying she wont vote for someone hostile to roe v wade, yet at the same time, she said she won't ask for a nominees personal opinion on a specific issue... lmao ... like give me break, if trump puts up a qualified nominee and not someone from Fox News, she will vote to confirm them, trust me. If she was a real moderate IMO she wouldn't consider anyone but Merrick Garland or refuse to consider a nominee until after the Mueller probe ends. She's a faux-moderate establishment Republican.
