Totally agree with this.

Yes, because the "we go high" shit has worked so well for the democrats so far...

Dude... guilanni is one of trump's lawyers. Lel. You're not wrong though but man, you're giving trump too much credit. If it weren't for Ailes/Hannity/etc (missing a prominent one drawing a blank atm) coaching trump on his debates, he wouldn't have gotten anywhere...

Go low and democrats lose 10/10 times

it's not their game nor should it be

Governing, policy, and keeping the tent big enough for center left and center right people that are politically homeless right now

It's not pretty or flashy or entertaining but it's best for the country and Americans and they should not forget that or it will take them longer to be given power by the people again than it needs to

Hmm, strange how going low for the Dems won't work but going low has been working very well for the G.O.P for a while now... why can't the democrats embrace their crazed-leftist antifa base like how Trump embraced the white-nationalists... do nazis/fascists outnumber the antifa/bernie crowd?

I don't think Democrats lowering themselves is a winning strategy. They have to appeal to moderates and independents, because Trump and the candidates who identify with him don't do that.

There's a middle ground between Trump and a typical politician. I think Joe Biden exemplifies that pretty well.

I generally like Biden but his age and his "bill Clinton"ish vibe both concern me. The superdelegates would probably love him running.

The country has plenty of people that do not fit into the extremes that the media profits from exploiting

Democrats do not need to abandon their values with hypocrisy to win and neither do the reasonable right

We have worked together and we still can, it doesn't need to be what it's become and the right candidates can restore some decency and pragmatism to our political environment

We do not need to be enemies and we should not treat each other as such in my opinion

well, there is a difference between "going high unless your opponent is absolutely undeniably forcing you to go low" and "being a pretentious dick about one's self-ascribed 'moral high ground'".

the latter is obviously a horrible campaign strategy.

Democrats right now are embracing more and more radical leftist ideas. Abolish ICE, state-guaranteed jobs, "free" health care for everyone (someone will have to pay for it in the end, but shhhh), "innocent until proven guilty" no longer applying to white men, and so on. do you really think there is any chance in hell for democrats to make inroads with center-right people on this platform?

Politics swing all the time and Democrats will hold power again and will lose it again

Yes I think these extremes will settle, maybe not in 2018 maybe not in 2020 but in time things will settle down eventually

Hopefully sooner rather than later for the sake of the younger generations

the problem isnt just rhetoric and style - the country is deeply polarized on the issues. two voting blocs of approximately equal size are increasingly trying to steer the country in diametrically opposed directions. they are increasingly so far away from one another on the issues that a compromise becomes all but impossible.

Either side can snag it back with popularity among moderates

as long as that remains true I try to not get too worried about it
