Abortions were not in full made law to allow "the legal killing of babies because its fun" was done because women were having them anyway, there needed to be a way to mitigate the desire and the medical impacts to the mothers. Yes some people use abortion due to their own life decisions.

The only thing legal abortion did was make it more socially acceptable. More than 80% of abortions are out of laziness rather than actual need now.

The situation for abortion wasn't good 20 years ago, but its definitely worse now.
