argument for what? you said it was a bad idea, presumably that means from the perspective of the restaurant owner. They don't like Trump, and now they're going to get a massive boost to their business of exclusively anti-Trump customers.
i don't have an argument for or against the move specifically, i argue for freedom of association. so a bigoted cake shop owner can deny ALL gays, and so they can deny gay people that want a detailed cake that they feel morally wrong about baking. i feel the right to serve or deny a customer is paramount for business owners, and as an individual freedom should be maintained even when it hurts others feelings. the only exceptions being cases of life and death, which would be rare.
as to the morality, that's subjective and i frankly dont care about. i believe this is a situation outside of traditional morals however, as it seems to be in a long line of trump staff getting denied. which seems to be a way to grab free press. which Trump is personally more than happy to give out. that's not an argument for or against something morally, as Trump himself said:
