She didnt condemn the business, she condemned the owner, and she did it out of simple decency, not personal reasons.

i'll bite even though you're a bad troll

if she didn't mean to "condemn the business", why did she have to bring up the name of the restaurant in her official govt twitter account (@PressSec)? she could've just said "a restaurant in the Virginia area", or something along those lines. She obviously meant to single out the restaurant...

regardless, i don't think it's a big deal that she violated ethics rules (happens on the daily with this swampy administration), I find all of it pretty entertaining, glad people are standing up to anyone involved with the Trump regime.

Someone give Ms. Smoky Eye a slap on the wrist! bad girl!

Sarah, I know you don’t care even a tiny little bit about the ethics rules, but using your official account for this is a clear violation of 5 CFR 2635.702(a). It’s the same as if an ATF agent pulled out his badge when a restaurant tried to throw him/her out.
Sarah Sanders

@PressSec

Last night I was told by the owner of Red Hen in Lexington, VA to leave because I work for @POTUS and I politely left. Her actions say far more about her than about me. I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so

Sanders used her official govt account to condemn a private business for personal reasons. Seeks to coerce business by using her office to get public to pressure it. Violates endorsements ban too, which has an obvious corollary for discouraging patronage. Misuse reg covers both.

Opening sentences of 5 CFR 2635.702 cover both; 702(a) gives example of coercion; 702(c) gives example of endorsement. Also 2635.101(b)(8) bars preferential treatment, with obvious corollary for singling out. She can lob attacks on her own time but not using her official position

>someone employed at restaurant posts on social media owner asked sanders to leave kicked sanders and the dinner party out

>sanders clarified on social media what event occurred: owner asked her to leave
>lefties cite statutes including “private gain from holding public office”
>sure lets nail everyone who has gained privately (net worth increase) from holding public office. start with former presidents and current members of congress

:rofl:

That's great and all, I'm a huge fan of the first amendment, she just should not have used her @PressSec twitter account to spread the message, she could've used her personal facebook account or something along that nature. Her tweet was obviously meant to condemn both the owner and the restaurant.

yes? it's 2018 there have been no ethics in the WH since January 2017... I'm done with this "they go low we go high" shit, time to go lower and give the Trump regime a taste of their own medicine.

You can believe that if you want. But this isn't true by any news source, and it isn't going to win more independent votes, which is what you need if you want your ideas to be heard. Anyone looking from the outside sees it as a petty personal vendetta.
