So I attend a church where practically nobody wears a mask. The head priest is not taking the vaccine. Another priest argued from the pulpit against mitigation efforts(closing churches down is unwarranted in the midst of a serious pandemic, so says he, even while they don't enforce masks). They maintain separate pews for social distancing, I assume because the bishop ordered it.

This sort of behavior is consistent with much of orthodox Christian churches(at least as far as I've read and heard).

I think there's good reason to believe in traditional, orthodox(small o) Christianity. But when so many of my fellow Christians of like mind religiously behave in this manner, I wonder if I've missed something. I'm in a church on Sunday with a bunch of people who can't seem to acknowledge scientific realties, so I feel out of place believing in the same metaphysical reality as them. It worries me that adherence to traditional Christian teaching correlates with anti-scientific attitudes.

This might be a blog post, or the start of a discussion.

1 Timothy 6:19-21
King James Version

19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:

21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
