I'm thinking neurology. I'll be rolling in the dough as baby boomers start stroking out en masse.

Just do good on your boards or you will be a pediatrician ;)

Worst case I'll be a rural family doctor.

Not the worst in the world, since I learned they actually make pretty good bank and have great bargaining power with insurance companies since they're often the only doctor within 50-100 miles that takes some insurances or will provide the specific service they are billing.

If I were you I would aim for that. I've always had the most respect for the "family" doctors. ^^

Anyone can specialize.

It's actually far easier to not specialize. The full phrase is Jack of all trades master of none.

Mastery is difficult.

It might be less education, but far easier, I don't think so.

IMO, specialists are in it for the money. General practitioners are in it for the people.

When EndlessLie has to correct you, you know you've hit ground zero.

He seems to have a wild hair tonight. But yeah, the ones that do some of everything are the "doctors" in my book.

And when you need brain surgery or heart surgery you'll be happy to have plenty of specialists available.

Well, ofc. Then the GP will refer you to a specialist. I just like the GP's bedside manner better, I guess.
I dunno, maybe going to the VA for so long has warped my sensibilities. :)
