tough luck. If I'm caught speeding because I wanted to impress a chick, I'll still have to pay the ticket. If I beat up another guy because I wanted to impress a chick, I can of course be charged with battery/assault. And if a government employee is violating the political neutrality statutes of his job because he wanted to impress a chick, he can and should of course pay the price for it.

without context it sounds concerning (funny now after Trump won) but let's be real about what he was actually doing and how little came from it

Breaking a country's laws the second they set a foot into it, only to then cry that this country is treating them too harshly.
Intentionally and with full awareness of the consequences entering a country illegally, only to then cry about those consequences.
