Feel free to link these reports because everything I'm reading suggests otherwise. Why would it be disastrous for the DOJ to charge given the circumstances? I think that NOT charging encourages people to unlawfully take sensitive information and lie about it. I don't want to live in a country where that's the norm but I'm also pretty hawkish when it comes to defense.

As I said before, if Trump had complied, I think he would have gotten away with it even though he likely committed a crime.

The likelihood of charging Trump under the Espionage Act is relatively remote. I can't think of any case where it's been used in the last 50+ years to charge someone who wasn't a Soviet spy.
