Not only these events are local (Groenland) and not global, but they seem to be directly linked to C02 concentration rate in the atmosphere (and ofc the size of ice caps).
It doesnt mean that there is no global warming. Locally here we have 30+ degrees more than NY, but we're both in winter. Hope this helps.

E/ I also agree apocalyptic predictions are just speculations, imo we could all die before the global warming is a treat for us lives. Loss of biodiversity is much more alarming right now for instance.
