Quite frankly, I think you're misattributing political views to people because of their opinion. I've seen both far left and far right claiming woke AF shit.
The original definition of being woke has to do with racism, although the way you depict it sounds like being woke is equal to being in favour ofpositive discriminationof minorities (which is simply not true, another misattribution). I think you'll agree with me that the recent years have showed a shift in the use of the word towards any individual who claims to stand for "the truth" and is adamant in unveiling this truth. More often than not this basically means parroting the government opposition.
One such example of far right being woke is in my home country where some of the vaccines were called out as being "experimental gene therapy", quoted from Thierry Baudet, who is the leading figure of the Forum Voor Democratie party. This party is considered to be extreme right and its political program shows many elements of fascism (though I base this on their 2016 program, I haven't read more recent ones but they basically only reach the news when they throw racial slurs or when they spout nonsense about the covid-19 policies in the country). People hailed this quote from him, which is scientifically and factually very untrue, as being "the truth" and these people called themselves woke -- and everyone who believed anything else is a sheep, did not do their own research and has to follow the money.
I'm not saying you're wrong in people believing wrong shit about the UKR-RUS situation. My personal stance is that Russia's hands were pretty much tied, UKR did not provide a way out for the seperatists and NATO would not have UKR join them. Had UKR joined, UKR would walk into the Crimea and Russia would be unable to respond because it will lead to a war with NATO, while if the UKR did not join and did not solve the seperatist situation Russia would sooner or later solve the situation for them and make sure the solution stays in place. That's just my two cents though, and although I am interested in politics, I am not well-versed in history.
Anyway, I hope to have informed you that being "woke" is no longer bound to being far-left. If you're looking for people going mental with the ukr-rus situation, you'll find them at both ends of the spectrum. Finger-pointing to the left is just narrowmindedness on your end. Please look around, and not just across the table ;)
Actually I am one of the few that can see both sides of the story in this Ukraine crisis. Check my previous posts if you're interested. Having that said I just want to point out:
In bold
"Positive" and "Discrimination" are opposites therefore positive discrimination cannot exist. If you believe discriminating against non-minorities is okay to make minorities somehow look better than you're woke.
You should ask yourself why the minorities fail to catch up. Do they speak the home language or do they stubbornly keep speaking their own language meaning their kids immediately have a huge disadvantage when they go to school?
Do they integrate and find a job instead of relying on handouts?
Normal moderate people will point those things out. Woke people will look away and most likely call the people that are pointing those things out extremists, fascists even. Proof is all over this subforum.
