I think another major factor is that the dependence on one another declined thanks to modern technology and forms of social organization. As recently as the 1950s and 60s, running a household was a full-time job and unmarried men struggled keeping up with it, just like unmarried women often times struggled to make ends meet without a provider. Even setting the kids-factor aside, a lot of marriages up until that point were made for practical reasons rather than deep love and voluntary commitment.

When dishwashers, washing machines, tumblers, fast food, daycare and such became more widely accessible, this reliance on a partner to manage day to day life declined or disappeared altogether, so that only those marriages remained which are made for voluntary, romantic reasons.

The culture that gets married the least are African Americans. They are also the most obese cultures. And the poorest cultures.

I know marriage is constantly on the decline among african americans, not sure for east asians.

I'm not saying that this is the sole cause. Personally I think that there are 5-6 different causes that are working together and making it almost impossible for a hypothetical average person to make marriage work.

Until I see data indicating otherwise, I'll assume that their marriage rates will decline over time as the influence of their more culturally conservative origin fades.
