I'd be interested where milk is 99c/gal and a dollar burger still exists, and where you could rent that's $400 a month. I lived in rural areas most of my life and stuff was more expensive than that 10 years ago.

the national change in minimum wage does not account for the dpending power of a dollar being drastically different state to state.

the relative buying power in California of $100 is $87.11 whereas that same $100 in Alabama has a relative value of $115.34.

so in California as of 2021 employers with 26 or more employees have to pay a state minimum wage of $14.00 an hour. increasing the federal minimum wage to $15 / hour will provide them an extra $40 a week or an additional $34 spending power weekly.

in Alabsma the minimum wage is 7.25 an hour. increasing to $15 hourly gives the employees an extra $310 dollars weekly in their paychecks which is about $357 of additional spending power weekly.

What economy will get disrupted first? what small business owners will have to shut thier doors?

They're progressing through budget reconciliation pretty quickly. I don't know the process very well but maybe by the end of the week.

Sucks that they compromised down to $1400 before anything had even happened.... but its Dems. What do you expect?

I mostly blame it on the poor explanation during the Georgia runoffs. They heavily advertised 2k, not "bringing you up to 2k". Still, if it gets through in the next week I'll call that a ~80% promise kept, which is exceptionally good for political parties.

hopefully no more stimulus, unless they start taxing corps at 91% and just going with UBI. it's where we're headed anyway may as well expedite the process
