Maybe we should do like Australia does. Send them all to a camp in NZ, and then start a global pity party, hoping that the US will take them?

Actually we put them in concentration camps in papua new guinea and on christmas island, and our government could not care less if anyone feels sorry for them.
And i am sure they would STILL rather not be shot.

papua newguinea and new zealand are as far apart from one another as san francisco and new york.

Well NZ is close. :)
I remembered it was an island, just not exactly where.
The article I posted when the news first hit, said someone was saying the US will probably take them.

This was after the usual "feel sorry for these people" pics were spammed all over the internet. Same shyt, different day in my book.

On a side note, I agree with AUS immigration laws/methods/ whatever. I am tired of every time somebody has a bad day in their country, they migrate to the US.
Organizations that want to help, can go to those countries and help. People that don't like the way their country is, can fix it. Then, after they have proven to the world that they can be first world citizens, then they can migrate.

So how exactly did your family get to america?
I assume they were loving it in ireland or wherever?

again and again: you cannot compare people who came into a mostly empty country and built it up from the ground with their bare hands without any state subsidies
with nowadays migration, where people come into a country with a saturated labor market, crowded roads and housing markets, and the first thing they do when they arrive if collect their welfare checks.

Well SF to NY is still pretty close. I mean Interstate 80 connects the two.

Point is that Australia doesn't want them either, for the same 'good reasons', IMO.

"pretty close"...

here in germany, the longest distance from one end of the country to the opposite end is about the same distance as san fracisco - san diego...

Yeah the Trans Canada connects the east and west coast. Pretty close.

I mean there's shipping lanes to India. So pretty close.

That's not very far. I drove from SF to Pittsburgh in 44 hours. A plane takes like 4 hours 50 minutes.
Btw, Canada is quite a bit wider than the US.

But yeah, to me, way over here, NZ and PNG are pretty close to each other. :)

Eight women, children from Central American 'caravan' first to enter U.S.

what the fuck?

I really dont want to imagine the next swath of politicians if even trump is just yet another politician that disappoints the hopes of the anti-illegal-and-third-world-immigration voters.
