We trade £8bn a year with China and they are the number one foreign investor in the UK, we are acting in our own self interest which I commend.
Meanwhile, all the Corbynistas are moaning about May not bringing up China's human rights abuse when meeting with Xi Jinping. Give me a break, this was a business meeting and we're in no position to be talking about human rights abuse after Iraq.

That's a joke in poor taste. Those immigrants aren't leaving because their previous lives were all rainbows and unicorns.
I'm not necessarily being a lefty here, but if all we (voters) can do is moan about immigration situation perhaps we need to tackle the problem at the front rather than the downstream process which is the influx of immigrants we're all complaining about.
I can't speak for Irvine but I don't have anything against immigrants, in fact I admire how they are following their own self interest and show a lot of willpower to try and get here.
But is it in our interest to allow undocumented, uneducated people into the country that will likely have a different set of societal values towards women, democracy and free speech?
Is it in our interest to allow further immigration into a tiny island of 65 million with a housing crisis and current net migration at nearly 300,000?
You may say it's only 800 people in Calais and I'm being overly dramatic. But what would the consequences be if we let them in? A lot more migrants flocking to Calais and demanding entry to the UK.
