Israel annexed the Golan Heights and East Jerusalem in 1967.
This is called "de facto" annexation: the army went, and appropriated the territories.

In 1980, Israel promulgated the Jerusalem Law, and this is known as "de jure" annexation.

In 1980, Israel promulgated the Golan Heights Law, and this is known as "de jure" annexation.

These are the Golan territories:

The UN has refused to recognize these two annexations:
  • the Golan Heights annexation
  • East Jerusalem annexation

The United Nations created Israel in 1948.
But the UN refuses to recognize real sovereignty for Israel
.

I think the United Nations is making a grave mistake in refusing to recognize these two annexations.

Iran benefits from this mistake of the UN.
Iran is taking advantage of Israel's weakness to make extremely serious threats against Israel
.

U.N. sets up human rights probe into Gaza killings, to Israel's fury

The resolution to send a commission of inquiry to investigate was rejected by the United States and Australia, but backed by 29 members of the 47-state U.N. forum. Another 14 countries, including Britain, Germany and Japan, abstained.

Israel’s ambassador in Geneva, Aviva Raz Shechter, castigated the council for “spreading lies against Israel” during “five hours of ludicrous statements”.

“Simply put, with this resolution, this council has reached a new height of hypocrisy, and the lowest standards of credibility,” she said.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry said it totally rejected the resolution, adding the entire purpose of the council was “not to investigate the truth but to compromise Israel’s right to self-defense and to single out the Jewish state for demonisation”.

I was just looking at Google maps. As we all know Turkey has been messing around in Syria.
After Syria comes Lebanon, then Israel.

Interesting how that works out.

If Syria started executing Israelis on the Israeli side of the border, and Syria had nukes and was in defiance of international law on nukes, you would be screaming your head off that the U.N. needs to unite against Syria.

But because its your favorite rogue nuclear terrorist state killing people in their own sovereign land, the UN has too much time on their hands.

U.S. threatens 'strongest' sanctions on Iran, seeks sweeping change

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-iran-nuclear-usa/u-s-threatens-strongest-sanctions-on-iran-seeks-sweeping-change-idUSKCN1IM1DE

Quote
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday threatened to impose the “strongest sanctions in history” against Iran if it did not accept a sweeping series of U.S. demands, including effectively giving up its nuclear ambitions, curtailing its ballistic missile program and ending its expansionist behavior.

Quote
“These will be the strongest sanctions in history by the time we are done,” he added.

Pompeo took aim at Iran’s policy of expanding its influence in the Middle East through support for proxy armed groups in countries such as Syria and Yemen.

He warned that the United States would “crush” Iranian operatives and allies abroad and told Tehran to withdraw all forces under its command from the Syrian civil war where they back President Bashar al-Assad.

Iran is unlikely to accede to the U.S. demands. Tension between the two countries has grown notably since U.S. President Trump this month withdrew from the 2015 nuclear agreement aimed at preventing Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Syrian, Iraqi forces say U.S. bombs military border positions, U.S. denies

OI'm not quoting anything, because I would have to quote the whole article.

From my read of it, it seems like either we were framed in this or some one is just trying to blame the US.
The fact that Israel said they would agree with w/e decisions we had made, makes me wonder if this wasn't set up by Israel themselves.

U.S. pushes allies to halt Iran oil imports, waivers unlikely

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-iran/u-s-pushes-allies-to-halt-iran-oil-imports-waivers-unlikely-idUSKBN1JM26Q

Quote
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States has told countries to cut all imports of Iranian oil from November and is unlikely to offer any exemptions, a senior State Department official said on Tuesday as the Trump administration ramps up pressure on allies to cut off funding to Iran.

U.S. President Donald Trump in May said his administration was withdrawing from the “defective” nuclear deal agreed between Iran and six world powers in July 2015, aimed at curbing Tehran’s nuclear capabilities in exchange for the lifting of some sanctions, and ordered the reimposition of U.S. sanctions against Tehran that were suspended under the accord.

“Yes, we are asking them to go to zero,” the official said when asked if the United States was pushing allies, including China and India, to cut oil imports to zero by November.

“We’re going to isolate streams of Iranian funding and looking to highlight the totality of Iran’s malign behavior across the region,” the official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told reporters.

Reacting to Iranian threat, U.S. Navy says will protect free flow of commerce

LONDON (Reuters) - The U.S. Navy stands ready to ensure freedom of navigation and free flow of commerce, a spokesman for the U.S. military’s Central Command said on Thursday, after Iran threatened to block oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz if Washington bans its oil sales.

“The U.S. and its partners provide and promote security and stability in the region. Together, we stand ready to ensure the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce wherever international law allows,” Central Command spokesman Navy Captain Bill Urban said in an email to Reuters.
