There would, of course, be the necessary guidelines in place to prevent the very thing you're talking about. Oftentimes these proposals are accompanied by stipulations that say that those eligible would only be those who have documented establishment, usually 1 year or more, before these kinds of proposals would be applicable to them.

This is literally why we have passports and citizenships smh. Established people who immigrated after a certain period of time and meet proper criteria are eligible to live, work, vote etc

Agreed

Inversely people who don't pay taxes shouldn't get a say in how society is run
Otherwise we end up with pink haired nose ringed weirdos living on welfare driving my city to spend millions of tax dollars on renaming a street no one cared about

I think proposals like this aid in helping those who fall through the gaps in the citizenship process.

This is why there are proper channels like asylum seekers or special visas which help where we can. The left scumbags use Illigals and dead people precisely for these reasons. To influence elections and to spend money on foreigners without our say. Want to save children in Africa or Mexicans or whoever? Great start a fund-raiser. There is no falling through the gaps as you naively put it the Illigals are flooding in by the millions rofl. It is estimated that 3.2-3.6% of the population has illigally crossed the border that's 1 in 30 people! https://www.brookings.edu/policy2020/votervital/how-many-undocumented-immigrants-are-in-the-united-states-and-who-are-they/

It is absolutely fascinating the level of inpracticality and delusion that some people go into discussing politics.

Undocumented people do pay taxes though, including sales, property, and income taxes.

sales tax maybe with what little they get paid. mostly live hand to mouth and food isnt taxed. still its better then were they come from? there is i different reason why the elite ruling classes want mass immigration. did you know these people are not required to get the jab? something to think about?

Well I'll spare you the delusion then.

I think it wise to be suspect of the motivations for any major players--bourgeoisie especially.

Illegals are paying property taxes? How?

Let's take this stance to its logical extreme: only 10% of the resident population of Qatar consists of Qatari citizens, the rest are work migrants. They live in that place, pay taxes, most of them are even documented/legal. Even if a lot of them don't stay long enough to meet "established"-criteria, there would still easily be enough migrants left who have spent 3+ years etc., so that they could dominated the native Qatari population in elections and basically tell the Qataris how to run their own country. Do you think that makes any sense?

It just further creates class society, different privileges for some and not for others, abuse of cheap labour, abuse of swaying votes, the gangs exploit the Illigals through extortion and human trafficking, prostitution. The tax payer gets exploited to fork out significant portion for welfare and housing. Any way you slice it there is just one giant cluster fuck of problems. We already have too many internal problems to deal with as it is.

I remember listening to some theorist talking about how if a country allows immigrants into their country to work, they should be given rights as citizens because of some line of thinking like this, can't remember who it was now though. I'm not so sure if this guy I'm thinking of would extend this idea to people coming into a country illegally though

Undocumented people sometimes own a home and pay property taxes directly, and if they rent then the cost of property taxes for landlords are included in the rent. The IRS loves to collect money, as there's even a section on a 1040 Tax Form for illegal income/gains that has 5th Amendment Protections. And, undocumented people with no Social Security Number have been able to file taxes through the IRS via a Individual Taxpayer Identification Number for a long time. As long as the IRS gets its money, they are very happy.

I do, yes. I think Qatar having to reconcile its abuse of migrant workers would be a welcome, and overdue, thing.
