How do we know that improved brakes would have prevented the derailment?

we don't know that for sure, that's not the point though. according to train experts, those brakes REDUCE the chance of derailment, and LIMIT the potential damage in case of one.

maybe just watch the 2 minute video and read some articles about it - if you actually want to know, and not just make the silly suggestion that if something doesn't prevent derailments entirely, it should not be a requirement for dangerous train cargo in the first place...

i know, as a "principled libertarian" (lol) you have to act like any and all regulation is evil (even though you should almost be old enough to know how rivers / forests / cities looked like before evil EPA regulations took effect - some credit to nixon btw), but reality unfortunately doesn't care about edgy little political philosophies.

That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the BS website the OP's vid came from.
It's so left leaning, it fell over and is rolling down the hill. :/

being anti-corruption is indeed predominantly a "lefty" stance - unfortunately. that's my point. thanks for helping to illustrate that.

No one in politics is anti-corruption, they're anti-get caught. Are you from... Earth?

Very little to no coverage on this which is kind of shocking considering the scale and scope. Checked a few outlets and it's not even a sub bullet on the main page...like how?

This map could be 100% bs but if true you could have several states being impacted by the toxic chemicals being released into the air and water.

good breakdown of the chemicals and their toxicity

Can we get to the point where we talk about the tons of chemicals that are now in our fucking atmosphere instead of this petty bickering over which parties politicians rape less children?

lets re-frame this. which party wants/is actively trying to deregulate as many industries as possible? which party wants to dismantle "BiG GoveRnMenT" to have as little oversight as possible? which party is anti-conservation when it comes to nature/the environment?

this incident isnt isolated, its just one of the worst ones we've seen so far. republicans would rather increase corporations ability to make money than protect the land that their constituents live on. they dont give a fuck about anything but money and power. this is what happens

supposedly the local authorities did a "control burn" and the cars got torched. something weird seems to be going on.
