Totally offtopic, but why are you a fan of the Vikings instead of the Packers? Don't you live closer to Green Bay than Minneapolis?

Yes, unfortunately i do live near the Packers. this year its been fun but usually i take a lot of shit for it.

i'm originally from Illinois, my grandpa was a packers fan, oldest son is too, one uncle is a lions fan, and my dad chose the vikings (they were fun to watch when he was a kid). why no illinois people chose the bears is beyond me....

All I remember from the Bears is that they have a great defense and a really impotent offense, which makes for deadful games. But I'm a foreign voyeur and have only been paying attention to regular season NFL for 5 years or so, that's probably not the reason why people who are actually from Illinois don't support them. ;)

they sucked in the 70s for the most part, won it all in 85 and had a great team, sucked in the 90s, did ok a few years in the 2000s, and have sucked since.

historic franchise, mediocre results to be sure.

Well, that hasn't stopped the Cowboys from being one of the most popular franchises in America. But okay, enough off-topic for today. :)

The red wave was a hoax.

I don't think so. Republicans will end up winning the House popular vote by 3-ish percentage points. It's perfectly reasonable to assume that Dobbs, Jan 6/the Trump association as well as a host of particularly awful candidates cost them some additional 3-4 points or so, which would bring the 2022 midterms to R+6 or R+7, on par with the red waves of 94, 10 and 14.

The Cowboys, NOT OFF TOPIC BTW, are popular because they had an insane 1990s dynasty. why is that not off topic, because they built that dynasty with the trade for none other than Herschel Walker.

Quote
The Herschel Walker trade was the largest player trade in the history of the National Football League.[1] This deal on October 12, 1989, centered on sending running back Herschel Walker from the Dallas Cowboys to the Minnesota Vikings. Including Walker and a transaction involving the San Diego Chargers, the trade eventually involved 18 players and draft picks.[2] At the time of the deal, the Cowboys were one of the worst teams in the league (the team finished the 1989 season with its worst post-merger record, 1–15), trading away their best player, while the Vikings believed that Walker was the missing piece they needed to make a Super Bowl run. Thus, Minnesota originally felt that they got the better end of the deal. Instead, the Cowboys used the draft picks acquired in this trade to get the players they needed to help them win three Super Bowls in the 1990s. Meanwhile, the Vikings did not make a Super Bowl appearance with Walker.

The cowboys received 8 draft picks and 4 players.

The Vikings got Walker and 4 worse picks. and Walker wasn't the man we thought he would be.

Oh lol, I honestly didn't know that. Before the 2018 season, I wasn't following regular season NFL and only watched the Super Bowl.

Probably still better than a Trump/Biden debate in 2024...
