Unions, and the right of unions to strike when they don't get what they want, are the compromise position.

The 'right' side of the compromise is that police slaughter workers en masse, as has happened in Canadian history.

The 'left' side of the compromise is that workers drag their bosses out of their mansions and beat them to death then establish a dictatorship of the proletariat.

Raises are determined by intransigence. Have you ever gotten a raise you demanded? Have you ever demanded one? lmao

There you have it: inflation. If their wage increase is anything less than the inflation rate, it effectively means their wage is being lowered.

Anyway, regarding this "illegal" strike: if people are willing to risk so much for it, it tends to mean they've gotten to a point where they feel like they have nothing left to lose in the first place. This strike sends a pretty strong message.
