But mostly, the media is controlled through access. If CNN or MSNBC pulled a stunt like giving an actual hard, combative interview to Antony Blinken about support swastika tatted Nazis, destroying Yugoslavia in the context of Donbass and Crimea, and other such unmentionables, the entire network would lose access to the administration for months or longer as punishment.
