Can someone explain to a European what fuelled Ross Perot‘s success back then?

I know he won no state, but he scored a fifth of the popular vote. Why?

It's a hard choice but I'm going Kanye for President.

Sounds like a plan.

he ran as a centrist, pro-business, pro-choice, wanted taxes to help the less fortunate. didnt need swamp money, did a lot of charity work, veteran but not a warmonger, a man of faith, overall a decent person and was well-liked.

Well put.

He was well on the path to winning.
Then he suddenly pulled out, then changed his mind and got back in.
That hurt his credibility to many.
He would have won if that hadn't happened imo.

I always thought it was "odd" how that went down.
