Thank you for the first actual response. I really want to here thoughts from the truly pro abortion crowd. There are very few who hold the extreme belief of no abortion for any reason ever. There seem to be many more who hold the extreme view of abortion whenever for whatever.

I am completely on board with immediate life threatening situations. If the pregnancy is about to actually kill you, that is basically self defense. I get that.


The language of this bill is deliberately vague, especially where I quoted in OP. It leaves it up to individual doctors to simply decide what determines the mother’s health, and disallows any government to place any restrictions on that.

Now Congress can draft a NEW bill. But it can't be based on the assumption that the Constitution guarantees a right to abortion... because it doesn't.

I didn't realize we had a congress full of doctors who can write an accurate bill that can address every potential life-threatening pregnancy. It seems like leaving it up to the patient and doctor to evaluate on a case-by-case basis is the most appropriate choice if you believe abortions are ok in life-threatening situations.

The language used does not say life threatening. It literally says

Health is defined as the state of being free from illness or injury. There are many common illnesses and injuries from childbirth which are not close to being life threatening.

Abortion should be available on-demand irrespective of fetal development in large part because the prohibition of such is untenable when people have to articulate the real-world application of anti-abortion philosophy.

Seems fine to me. Why should the goverent have a say in what constitutes life or health of a patient? It's a conversation between a patient and their doctor and the government doesn't have a place in that conversation.

Because it is the legislation’s sole purpose to place restrictions on the people it governs. There is a large chunk of the United States who don’t want people to have an abortion a day before their due date for just whatever reason. Those people elect other people into office to pass laws based on what they believe
Is moral.
