Law abiding citizens with the presumption of innocence and a valid self defense claim are not supposed to be jailed pending trial. The way liberal DAs have granted bail to violent predatory offenders and tried to deny it in cases against groups, races or cases that they are prejudiced against, is one of the more pernicious and corrupting poisons of our democracy. Thugs get a free pass, political prisoners get their own wing of a jail

Semi-related statement, however, is that there are only two Constitutionally validated causes to imprison a person prior to due process: They are a flight risk, or they are a continued immediate risk to society.

I’m simply stating that the charge bail etc is pretty common when somebody is killed

And I agree that SHOULD be the case. My previous example of the thousands of people booked on theft drug charges even go through this process. Judges and lawyers even know it’s against your right happens thousands of times a day across the county. You are NOT without punishment/consequences prior to conviction. Now that subject I am adamant that resolving would make better system.
The flip side is we don’t punish ACTUAL criminals hard enough.

it’s all on video, attacker going behind the counter to attack unprovoked. and then tried to drag the employee out of the store (attempted kidnapping), so hopefully it goes to a grand jury which takes one look and moves to dismiss
