My god, you still think I am asking about the gold thing.

No. You just don't understand how to find information on the Internet. I simply used the money laundering bills as an example of how to find the author of a particular piece of legislation. Congress.gov would fit the definition of what you referred to as a "relevant government website", and information on legislation is available publicly there. For legislation written by active members of Congress, contact information exists on their public House/Senate pages to contact them. For those bills written by people who are no longer members of Congress, your question in the OP wouldn't be relevant, as they're no longer public servants, but private citizens (or possibly deceased).

Almost everything you asked about in the OP already exists.

But do people have any recourse if they disagree with a law? There are currently very few ways for people to voice their concern/displeasure about a law. They also cannot change a law very easily, either. What I proposed would solve this problem.

I also believe that law-makers should be able to publicly defend laws they passed against criticism. It seems to me that right now they don't really have to do this.

Yea the Banking Secrecy act signed into law by notorious socialist Richard Nixon.

The Banking Secrecy Act was written and passed by CONGRESS. Both the House AND the Senate of the 91st Congress had Democrat majorities, and the House had a Democrat supermajority. IE: Nixon had no choice but to sign it into law, as if he did not, no Republican bill would make it through for the rest of his time in office.

It was promptly challenged by a ton of bipartisan groups as being unconstitutional, violating both the 4th and 5th amendments, which it certainly does. Thanks to having political activist judges on the stand, and continued efforts to wipe out the Mob/Mafias of Chicago, New York, New Jersey, and elsewhere, it was ruled as "Not violating the Consitution" and the opinion on that is nearly as large of a pile of steaming horse shit as is humanly possible.

Thomas may want to look at revisiting that case, btw.

So? Is your claim that Republicans cannot be socialist authoritarians who wish to violate your rights? If so, you'll need to explain such golden poster boys as Mitt Romney to us. Likewise, it would have passed the House regardless due to the support of Democrats.

If you wish to point the finger for this Unconstitutional act, point it squarely at the Congress who wrote it, and the SCOTUS who upheld it even though it was clearly in direct violation of both the 4th and 5th Amendment. May as well go cry about Roe being overturned while you're at it.

It's time to be honest: Do you support the Constitution or do you not? If the answer is not, then do not be surprised when all your rights are seized by the Federal Government, and next thing you know, you can't even buy toilet paper when your social credit score gets too low. If you do support it, then attempting to justify ANY infringement on anyone's rights without Due Process is antithetical to your position.

So which are you?

This one time, I wanted to buy gold from this place with cash. Much to my surprise, they told me that they would need to report any sales involving cash when it was over a certain amount. I was both surprised and confused. However, I had nobody to ask. I didn't know who made up this law, why he made this law, and there was no way for me to challenge this law or voice my concern or even question it in any way.

It's not about the gold anymore. Think about the society we are in, politicians pass all kinds of law, many of which very clearly put restrictions on our freedoms. But we as the people have no recourse when we are disagreement with these laws. I feel that this isn't right. If there are going to be laws that concern us in such fundamental ways, we need to be able to question and dispute them, and to know who passed them and why.

What I would do if I were a law-maker: I would make it known that I am the author of a particular law. I would then explain my reason for passing this law. I would put all this information very publicly, say, on a relevant government website. Then, I would give people the opportunity to write in to me, to voice their concerns about the law, to question the reason/s behind the making of the law, to tell me that my law is shit, and in some cases, to maybe even change my mind completely and to make me rescind it. All this would be made public for all to see. I imagine it could take the shape of a public forum, much like this forum. And it would be my job to publicly defend my law.

Do you think this would be something you could get behind?

Bank reporting requirements. They have to report all transactions over $10,000. I recommend that you structure your purchases to a series of $9,999 gold purchases. That'll show 'em.
