this is pathetic from all sides. no one should take their religion so "seriously" that they start a riot over someone's announcement to burn books (how on brand for the far right though). obviously, the rioters are in the wrong. religions are cancer.
that said, what a pathetic stunt by the nazis. they obviously knew this would cause an unrest, and it's not like burning books is some normal thing people would do, and only refrain from to prevent unrests. if this was about something people would normally do, that religious nutjobs got offended over, there'd be a point to this action - this one is just a blatant provocation for the sake of it.

i wonder what'd happen if the muslim community in some deeply christian-conservative city in the US announced to burn bibles or copies of the US constitution. i wonder how big the outcry / protest would be, how many of them would get death threats or straight up shot over it. fundamentalists are just deeply irrational and unstable people.

The problem I think is that some people agreed, on the political level, that every religion is fine.
Well, its not.
Here in Poland only 20% people support abortion ban.
Yet the government did it, because it was so important to the bishops to impose their religion rules on whole society. 20% religion freaks imposed their will on 100% people just because they had political opportunity to do so.
Muslim, Christian not much difference it seems, except christianity dies and its possibly little less savage.
