Toxic masculinity teaches men they're weak if they need help
Its my understanding that the latest videos from this guy were about how he had been through the mental health system for years and described it as 'emotional violence' against him;
Quote
“The other thing he talked about, of course, was the issue of mental health,” James says in the video. “I’m also an expert on that, because—not only am I an expert, but I’m also a fucking patient. A mental health patient as well.” In a separate video, recording himself as he drives what appears to be a large van or truck, James claimed he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder.
“I have been in crisis, as a patient. I have a diagnosis that goes back to 1980, and I have been in crisis. I have acted out, so to speak, to the point where I had to be locked up because I was using illegal narcotics, I’ll just say.” James added that he hadn’t “had an episode since that time.”
James also noted that he had spent time in the city’s mental health day treatment centers, stating that those places are filled with “violence, not physical violence, but the same kind of violence that’s similar to what a child may experience in grade school.” He then went on to describe a situation in which “people keep talking and picking, picking, picking to the point where they go and get a gun and shoot motherfuckers. That kind of violence.”
The same sentiment against New York City's leadership is also mirrored in a Jan. 26 video, where James slams the rise of crime on the subway—and claims he'd “still get off” even if he sees officers on the tracks.
“He can’t stop no crime in no subways,” James said. “He may slow it down but he ain’t stopping it.”
Its not a surprise that black identity extremism finds purchase with people who are already unstable and extreme, I mean spend 60 seconds listening to any 'black hebrew israelites' and you'll know they are basket cases. I'm sure there have been entire books written about the chicken and egg scenario of violent extremism and mental illness. It can be a wacko in search of a cause more than a cause finding a wacko, which can fizzle out harmlessly like the 'MAGA bomber', or it can get a lot of people injured or killed like this guy or the shooting by Connor Betts in Dayton. And in general, the more militant politics exist and plunge society into fatalistic mindsets, the easier it is for wackos to embrace the fatalism.
