A quick google showed that the estimated value of the British crown jewels is between $4-6 Billion.
The lost Chinese heirloom seal of the realm could be worth a lot more than that if found and auctioned because both China and Taiwan want it.
that wasn't my point. i'm not saying the English Crown's wealth approaches Musk's, i used them as an example that's well known of Kings and Queens holding items of historical value and lands (the crown's land holdings are estimated at $12bn) that have a lot of value. i'm sure they're not as rich as Musk, but im also sure that people like the Saudi Royal family are, and are 100% not public about the riches in historical items and lands in the same way the Queen is. who knows what old middle eastern crusade era treasures the Saudi's have locked away, or how you'd even estimate things like the oil reserve value on land that they hold under royal ownership. people call Musk the richest man because estimating his value is fairly easy.
edit: and im not sure how a 4-6$ bn value was even arrived at, given its hard if not impossible to value items of such historical value. maybe they used a combination of raw prices of the gems and gold/silver, maybe they compared them to similar items with similar gemstones. they have like a 100+ carot sapphire among many other exceedingly rare gems. it will never sell so its a bit of a moot point but anyways.
