if you're going to go at Russia and/or China, you have to do it right.

when trump imposed a few select tariffs on Chinese goods he did so alone, and ineffectually. a tactic that may have gotten results if he was a bit more heavy handed and there was some guarantee of decades long deadlines to remove them.

as compared to what we see versus Russia, which is a swift and broadly imposed set of harsh sanctions from the USA, most of Europe, and a slew of the world's largest corporations and financial institutions.

at the time Trump went at China i said it wasn't enough, and therefore dumb. he should have gotten Europe in on the game and he'd have stood a chance, instead they laughed at him.

You should hope this doesn't happen. Cutting off China from the West would cause an economic blowback you've never seen in your lifetime. Try to come up with realistic solutions.

good. im ready for the reality of needing to be more self sufficient, as is my family. china however is not. the rural farmers that the govt officials hate are, the city dwellers aren't, and the govt isn't.

it's either economic war now or real war later. be it cyber, bullets, or both.

Maybe you're ready but not 95% of everyone else living in this country. If something like this ever happened i can't even begin to imagine the fallout. The cities would be fucked. The looting and rioting we seen during Floyd are going to seem like cos play.

imo either we deal with a rough patch to bring them into line, or we risk China being the only world superpower for hundreds of years and the problems that brings with it. we just sat back as they made themselves an integral part of the world economy because it was good for business, we sat back as they began to kill off undesirables in their own people, as they fish out waters of sovereign nations, and even as they started to buy America in the form of land itself. they own our debt, they've got lobbyist spies in Washington, and the NATO issues we have with Russia today are just a precursor to the Japanese/Korean/Chinese issues that are to come.

someone is fucked, be it us, our children, or grand children. unless we can turn the Chinese people against the Chinese govt en masse.

I don't think the transition is going to be as violent as many think, at least for us in the US here. What's going to happen is a lot of places are just going to be folded under their sphere of economic influence, similarly to what happened with western Europe post WW2 and the US. Sure Taiwan, Korea, maybe a few other places around the globe may see military action but IMO it's hard to see that here. If there's violence here I think it will be domestic in nature with rampant crime and the social fabric falling apart if the dollar starts looking like the German mark during the Weimar republic rather than some external invasion or force coming in.

i'd prefer a slew of domestic violence, and violence in China, than to watch the world fall peacefully to China.

the idea of 4 generations down my family line living in a world run by Chinese ideals with social credit scores and death camps makes my hungry for a bit of violence.
