Omicron has been winding down for several weeks now. we're well past the peak and there aren't any notable variants that I'm aware of.

So it's not gone, but we may be to a point where only specific actions need to be taken in especially low vaccination areas to preserve the healthcare system.

That is just euphemism for we need to make life more miserable for the unvaxxed so that they will "voluntarily" get vaxxed.

It isn't evidence of anything. Its a fact. OP asked "Is covid over" and the likelyhood of my father recovering are slim. I would say, for all of those still losing loved ones, No, covid is not over.

Whether covid is over or not is not determined by whether your dad has a good chance of recovering.

The irony of it. My father had Polio, one of the last in the United States to contract Polio before its eradication in 1955. Despite seeing the success of the polio vaccine, he refused to accept the covid vaccine, and now he is in a hospital bed unable to breath and his heart is operating at 25%



If his heart drops to 20% effectiveness, they estimate he has days to live. Either way, his chances of a recovery are extremely low, especially since he is also on dialysis.
