The government cares about what the voters care about, else they risk loss of power. As many governments have learned the hard way. If you don't understand that then you're a fool.

First of all, individual governments come and go, however the entire system will not "lose power". The power that be will just replace the old potus that did poorly with a new potus. Secondly, you need to prove that governments care about what voters care about. Just because you think they have strong incentive to, doesn't make it so.

You live in a fantasy world which you view with your rose-colored glasses. You think politicians care about what the masses want and they want what's best for them. Lol. It's funny, really. I bet you would tell your three-year-old daughter to not accept candies from a stranger, yet you place complete and total trust in politicians, who are also strangers, because you don't know them personally. I mean, how stupid can you get?

Entire societies can and do regularly fall. Entire governmental systems have not only lost power but ceased to exist. No government around today can trace itself back more than a few hundred years.
I don't have to prove the self evident. You have to prove your claim that government doesn't care what the people think in a democracy. Despite the fact that being elected requires voter approval.

They seek power and security for themselves and their friends and families. But in a democracy you don't get to be in power unless you convince the people who vote that you're better for them than the opposition is. I have no faith in any politician. Never have never will. And fyi, I don't pretend anything. Your posts betray you. You claimed that the government mandates are being lifted because the covid situation is easing. This implies that the government cares about the health of the public. Before you ask me to prove anything, how about you try and prove your faith-based belief that the government is benevolent. And then you need to prove that governments get voted out until finally one that truly cares about the populace gets voted in. No. The only entity that gets voted in is the one that pretends that it cares. Apparently, politicians paying lip service and saying, "we care about you!" is enough to convince you. I really hope you don't go Halloween trick or treating. You might get some tainted candies and worse, you will eat them.
