NATO won't have even more forces on Russia's borders. It isn't about forcing NATO backwards, Russia can't force NATO backwards. All it can do is draw a line saying no further.
I generally agree. It didn't even have to be public. NATO could have said everything behind the scenes with no visible fallout. Even put a time table on things. We won't allow Ukraine in for 20 years guaranteed, to be revisited in 20 years. Even that would have relieved pressure without actually conceding anything to Russia. Even if Ukraine appealed to the public with the declaration, a Russian/NATO joint statement to the contrary would have shut down all but conspiracy theories.
so how does this work? if mongolia wants to join nato tomorrow (for the sake of the argument, I know mongolia is a barren wasteland with only 3 million inhabitants), russia is ok to steamroll its tanks in mongolia?
what about sweden and so on.
it is ridiculous.
lets be serious, the only issue nato has with russia its its nuclear arsenal.
its clear today that russia's regular army is a joke.
USA would absolutely stomp russia in a 1v1 war (without nuclear nukes). let alone UK, France, Germany and so on.
what would happen if ukraine would indeed join nato? does anyone actually think there will be an nato invasion from ukraine into russia?

unfortunately in our case, pussy bitch biden did not discuss with putin (he had weeks) to clearly state, lets revisit in X years as oyu suggested.
because again lets be serious, nato is basically run by USA and has been since forever.
